Automation Engineer

Job Description:

The Senior Automation Engineer will lead and execute Engineering/Automation projects and provide Automation Support on project sites.  The Senior Automation Engineer provides technical leadership and direction for standards, procedures, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements associated with automation/engineering practices and execution. The Senior Automation Engineer will provide input into the Product Life Cycle process as it relates to automation requirements. The Senior Automation Engineer will collaborate within the Technical Operations function including Engineering, Liquids, Commissioning & Qualification, Packaging Technology Platforms as well as with Quality functions and Manufacturing to establish and continuously improve automation/engineering practices, procedures and performance measures. 

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for managing and delivering engineering/automation projects from concept to post implementation including developing project scope, user requirements, appropriation requests, timelines and budgets, qualification plans, approving equipment specifications and documentation to meet current company, corporate and government requirements. The Senior Automation Engineer will also be responsible for managing the purchase, installation and start-up of equipment and system including adherence to compliance, cost and time schedule requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of Pharmaceutical manufacturing related experience is preferred.
  • Experience in automation is preferred.
  • Prior PLC experience with is a plus.
  • Relevant experience in engineering, technical, and/or operations areas is required.
  • Knowledge of cGMPs and Good Documentation Practices is required.
  • Experience working in a FDA/cGMP compliance environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge and application of FDA regulatory requirements and ISA standards is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence manufacturing teams regarding prioritization is required.
  • Ability to inform, communicate with, and influence direct management regarding validated state of respective products/processes and indicated priorities is preferred.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills preferred.
  • This position may require up to 100% travel domestically and internationally.
